When I first started my business, I needed some fill-in work to keep things moving.
So I applied for a receptionist position at a local law firm. I put together a nice outfit. Blouse. Dress pants. Blazer. I felt confident and prepared.
I walked in and nailed the interview.
About an hour later my phone rang. They offered me the job.
And then she said, “We need to ask you not to wear the rubber flip flops to work.”
I wanted to disappear.
I’d been so focused on everything else I hadn’t even thought about what was on my feet. In Florida flip flops are just everyday wear. They weren’t even on my radar, and the moment she said it I felt my face go red.
Here’s the thing though. I still got the job.
Everything else was solid enough, one overlooked detail didn’t disqualify me, and it did cause an embarrassing moment. My embarrassment could have been avoided entirely if someone had just looked me over before I walked out the door.
That’s exactly what happens in your business.
You work hard. You show up prepared in the areas that matter most. You deliver for your clients, manage your calendar, stay on top of your communications. And somewhere in the background there are rubber flip flops you haven’t noticed.
A payment process that depends on someone being available. An inbox so full that potential clients are slipping through unanswered. An onboarding system that looks fine enough but feels clunky to the person on the other end.
You can’t always see it yourself…not because you’re not paying attention… because you’re busy carrying everything else.
Having someone in your corner makes all the difference.
This is why I developed, The Systems Clarity Audit. It isn’t about finding everything you’re doing wrong. It’s about having a fresh pair of eyes look at the whole picture and catch the flip flops that are causing friction.
Plenty of business owners keep going without it, and It brings something valuable to your business. The ability to focus on your clients and the work you signed up for…knowing someone else is looking at the details you don’t have time to see.
One hour together. A clear look at what’s slipping through the cracks, and a practical plan to fix it before it becomes an embarrassing moment or a missed opportunity.
If you’d like a fresh set of eyes on your business, just reply “Clarity” and let’s set up a time to talk.
