There’s a saying, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!” This book reminds me to stop, breathe, and assess how to restore order amid the chaos.
Occasionally, overwhelm can be heavy on me. A few weeks ago, I got very sick and was down for a solid week. All my little systems became derailed, and my house and life looked like a train wreck.
I used to take several days, rip my whole house apart, and then begin piecing it back together. That method no longer serves me, because I don’t have several days to devote to getting back on track…so I’ve begun a new method of restoring order after a season of breakdown.
That’s what I’m doing this week. I decided to tackle my overwhelm, one bite at a time. I gave myself a day to declutter a chunk at a nice leisurely pace and then stop. When I do this, it makes everything seem more manageable. As I see the small wins, it gives me momentum to tackle the next chunk tomorrow.
The added benefit is I have time to breathe, rest, and refresh at the same time.
